With entries from 1/3 of all secondary schools and endorsement from a number of teachers' organisations, Shockwaves Unsigned was groundbreaking. An exciting music event, which gave post-primary school students the opportunity to learn about the music industry, perform on stage, and be mentored throughout by professional musicians through-out.


Each year approximately 550 bands entered Shockwaves Unsigned and 150 were shortlisted to attend a regional heat at prestigious music-dedicated venues across the country for an all-ages event. The grand final was held in The Ambassador and Vicar's Street in Dublin. The events were attended by over 10,500 people annually. The project ended when Wella was taken over by Proctor & Gambol.
