Murphy's Live began in 2004 and has grown every year since to become Ireland's biggest band competition with over 450 entries in 2008. The competition is all about new Irish bands and giving them the opportunity to perform with some of Ireland's most successful live acts in great venues across the country. Real Events managed every aspect of this sponsorship property/budget: overall look and design, branding and marketing materials, management of the PR Company, recruitment of bands phase to the promotion, event management and production specifications of the 10-12 gigs each year. Headliners in the recent past include Duke Special, Cathy Davey, The Blizzards, The Automatic and UK Chart-toppers The Enemy.

With a high profile judging panel consisting of leading industry professionals, bands are judged on their live performance abilities in a number of heats in cities and towns such as Dublin, Cork, Waterford, Limerick and Clonakilty. Murphy's Live offers the winning band a phenomenal galaxy of music prizes worth €10,000. Media partners include Hotpress and 2FM. Murphy's Live 2008 came to an epic climax in The Savoy, Cork with a full house of over 1,000 music fans in attendance to see finalists Bravado and Gorbachov battle it out for the prize and chart topping U.K. act The Enemy as headliners. Waterford band Gorbachov were victorious.
Such was the success of Murphy's Live that it became the biggest band competition in Ireland for five years with a collective audience of 25,000 and over 3450 participating bands during its lifespan. Some of Ireland's biggest bands were entrants into this competition. The competition ended in December 2009, when Murphy's asked Real Events to develop and manage a new sponsorship platform - "Murphy's Little Big Night Outs"
