Client: Irish Aid
Irish Aid, Department of Foreign Affairs, is the Government's programme of assistance to developing countries and was set up in 1974. For the past 5 years Real Events has managed The Our World Irish Aid Awards on behalf of the Department. The overall purpose of the programme is to raise awareness among Irish pupils of the lives of children and their families in developing countries. By taking part, children can learn how Ireland works with these countries as partners for development. The Programme culminates in an exciting awards day in Dublin where a national panel of judges selects the most impressive entries from schools countrywide. This year there will be a fantastic final event in Dublin Castle, where the most outstanding entries will be invited to attend and receive an award and will find out which school will receive the Our World Irish Aid Awards trophy! Real Events has repeatedly won the tender to develop and manage the project. The curriculum and support materials are created and evolved annually by Real Events. In addition, Real Events developed a tour of development and media workshops to over 4,000 children around the country and this year are working directly with teachers and schools through a series of support visits. Real Events manage every stage of the programme including production of an exhibition/awards ceremony for the finalists with the Minister of State for Overseas Development, Mr. Peter Power T.D., presenters from RTE's Ice TV and many dignitaries in attendance. In 2010 over 600 registered for the competition and the final event took place in prestigious Dublin Castle where Minister Power was in attendance. |
