The programme culminated in the winners of each category and a group of their classmates attending the Capture the Power Awards ceremony and Energy Festival in Croke Park. The awards ceremony was an ‘oscar' style event, with entertainment from the science entertainer, James Soper, and a prize giving to the students after that. Students were also given the opportunity to interact with various different forms of energy through a range of activities, including a bungee run, radar goal and smoothie bike (Potential & Kinetic Energy), Light and hear exhibits and Thermal imaging camera. The programme has enjoyed continued success in 2010. This year children were asked to focus on capturing the energy in their worlds. Entry levels increased to 692 schools and 4886 entries. A VIP awards ceremony was held for the winners at Dublin Zoo. |
